Cathedral Is Open For Confessions On PlayStation 4

The wait is over, Cathedral, developed by Decemberborn Interactive and published by Elden Pixels, is set to be released on the PlayStation 4 on April 12th, priced at $14.99 / €13.99 / £12.59. After getting a very positive reception from metroidvania enthusiasts on Steam, Cathedral finds a new home on the PlayStation 4, delivering classic platforming inspired by titles from the NES and SNES era.

To celebrate the launch of Cathedral on PlayStation 4, publisher Red Art Games will release a boxed physical edition this spring which also includes a cardboard sleeve and poster. The physical edition is limited to 1,500 copies and will sell for €24.99, with pre-orders starting on April 7th.

With over 600 rooms to explore across its huge interconnected world map, Cathedral presents an 8-bit audiovisual feast that has been created with contemporary metroidvania game design principles. Cathedral’s expansive map is completely hand-crafted in meticulous pixel art detail, filled to the brim with all sorts of locations, secrets, puzzles, items and special challenges.

In Cathedral, players wake up in a world with no recollection of how they got there. Control a nameless knight from a different world, who teams up with a spirit known as Soul. Explore the world together to figure out who you are, how you got there, and most importantly, how to get back home.

To unravel the secrets of the knight’s past, you will have to find five legendary elemental orbs protected by five fearsome guardians. Make your way through their dungeons, meet them head-on in combat, and see if you can defeat and claim the treasure they are guarding! In classic metroidvania fashion, on your journey you’ll find a host of items that allow you to explore the world even further, reaching new areas, secrets and surprises!

“We’re happy to announce that Cathedral is now available on the PlayStation 4,” said Eric Lavesson of Decemberborn Interactive.  “Having already such a great community with our PC and Nintendo players, we’re delighted to finally be able to bring this adventure to the PlayStation community. We want to thank everyone who has supported Cathedral and will continue to do so on PS4. Without you, we couldn’t continue making amazing adventures!”
