Eufloria – Playstation Network Exclusive

Alex May & Rudolf Kremers proudly announce the launch of their ambient game of space exploration and conquest; “Eufloria”on Sony PlayStation Network.

Eufloria is a fully independently developed and published game, and comes out as part of Sony’s “Only on PlayStation Network” initiative.

Eufloria first saw life as “Dyson” a freeware entry into the TIGSource Procedural Game Competition, after which an expanded version became an IGF 2009 finalist, competing among other things for the festival’s grand prize. Since then the game has undergone extensive development which led to a new incarnation as “Eufloria”, which saw a successful commercial release on various PC platforms, including Valve’s Steam network.

The current Playstation release is another big step up with a large amount of new and enhanced features that make this PSN Release the best incarnation of the game to date.

This release really is the one that comes closest to the ideal we had for the game, and has a lot of content and features that are not in the pc port. The improvements and additions to the PS3 version are numerous – both in huge strokes and tiny tweaks – but a few highlights include:

  • New units: A new plant will automate troop movements, while a new tree type helps terraform asteroids (both visually and to change the attributes of the seedlings grown on it)
  • Improved gameplay: Including rebalanced levels, improved AI, and a new 2x game speed that works like a fast-forward button
  • New collectibles: Ancient Artifacts add flavor to the universe, as well as full Trophy support
  • More music: Including 100 additional minutes of completely new music by ambient specialist Milieu (the OST is particularly gorgeous)
  • Enhanced graphics: Smoother, faster visuals with much more environmental and color diversity
  • Updated controls: Completely redone PS3-specific interface and controls
