Strong Games has just released a “try before you buy” version of Gloom Beacon for Windows PC’s. This is an interesting concept as we recently did a review of Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords for PSP which was a “Battle Bejeweled” type game and now we have “Battle Shanghai” gaming mixed with a little bit of chess.
Gloom Beacon starts out like most RPG’s, you pick a race and sex of your character and then commence to saving the town of Oasis, formerly a place of great trade for the area but now a shadow of it’s former self. The evil magician Krachont has cast a spell called Gloom Beacon that hides Oasis day and night from the outside world and enslaved the citizens for his own evil intentions.
