    Games that cross genres either are mediocre or fail miserably, very few succeed in making a new genre out of the previous two. Puzzle Quest took Bejeweled puzzles and used them as the combat and mixed in a healthy dose of RPG elements and has succeeded rather well.     Strong Games has just released a "try before you buy" version of Gloom Beacon for Windows PC's.  This is an interesting concept as we recently did a review of Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords for PSP which was a "Battle Bejeweled" type game and now we have "Battle Shanghai" gaming mixed with a little bit of chess.
