The UK Developer Of The Year Award at this year’s Golden Joystick Awards recognises the world leading games development taking place at home, shining a light on the creative quality and consistent high standards of game creation from UK studios.
2010 has been a strong year for new releases, making this one of the most competitive and sought after categories. Codemasters created F1 2010, Bodycount and Colin McRae: Dirt 2 and will be much fancied to secure a large portion of the vote. Other UK studios releasing triple-A games included Rockstar North’s Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, while Lionhead released the eagerly-anticipated Fable III.
Last year’s winners; Jagex, will be hoping for a repeat result having released Miner Disturbance and War of Legends. Also competing for the top honour is Sony Computer Entertainment’s London Studio for the likes of ModNation Racers, Rocksteady Studios for Batman Arkham Asylum, alongside releases from Rare, Media Molecule and Team 17.
