Five-man development team, Indie studio Grimm Bros is proud to announce that during the 30 day Kickstarter campaign for Dragon Fin Soup, the team raised 500% of their funding goal with a total amount of $119,719 from 4044 backers and simultaneously passed four stretch goals that bring a host of a new game features.
Set in a world inspired by fairytales and classic console RPG’s, Dragon Fin Soup has been in development for over a year, and is scheduled for release on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in 2014.
“The kickstarter campaign for Dragon Fin Soup has been a real rollercoaster of emotions. Our initial expectations were blown away, by an awesome community of backers who allowed us to quickly reach our funding goal and then supercede it”, said Grimm Bros CEO, Ash Monif. “We are excited that our concept hit a sweet spot with so many gamers out there and we look forward to delivering our vision in 2014”.
The Kickstarter stretch goals gave gamers the opportunity to determine the scope and scale of Dragon Fin Soup, and allowed backers to unlock four new features including the endless labyrinth mode, Asian weapons pack and clothing sets, the sheep quest, and playable skeletons in survival and labyrinth mode. Rewards for backers include limited edition music boxes, art books, plushies, t-shirts, art prints, engraved crystals and hand-drawn illustrations.
Combining turn-based dungeon crawl exploration with the classic console RPG style of storytelling, Dragon Fin Soup draws inspiration from beloved childhood fairytales, with a twist. The game starts out with Red Robin, the reimagined version of the classic Red Riding Hood character who is a cheerful, yet raging alcoholic that makes a living as a sword-for-hire and bounty hunter in a remote country village. A year has passed since Robin lost her memory, but the bloody past slowly catches up with her as she discovers a world of murder, conspiracies and magic.
