Review Score:

Ever wonder what the Hare from the “Tortoise and Hare” thought of his loss? Run Sheldon answers that question. Old Man Hare wants your Golden Trophy so you have to run for it.

As you run for it, you must jump and collect coins while avoiding hares that will kill you. If you run into a hare and die, you will have to pay coins. The amount of coins increases each time you die. If you run out of coins, you have the options to purchase coins using money.

The hares come in a variety of challenges. Some will pop out of holes in the ground (you can see their ears sticking out of the ground), some are para-gliding to the ground with lettuce leaf parachutes, others are ninja hares that bounce up and get Sheldon, and more. You must land on them to kill them. To collect the coins you must run over them.

The coins are everywhere; on the ground and on the logs that form multiple platforms. You have “super coins” that are worth multiple coins. When you level up, you receive coins as well. The scenery changes from a green meadow to a woody swamp, dry land to lakes with star hares.

You can get power ups that give you a temporary boost. These include “Bouncing Bubbles” that allow you to bounce higher; a “Mega Rocket” that gives you a speed boost; and wings that give you a flying boost, among others.

“Run Sheldon” is a 2D side-scrolling platform game that keeps you hopping as you play since you don’t know when the next hare is going to pop up or where it’s going to come from. The use of items such as lettuce for the parachutes adds to the game as you don’t expect this.

Even upon replaying the game, it seems to vary where the hares are placed. Collecting all the coins seems impossible as they are placed on multiple levels and getting the timing right to take out all the hares is just as hard as they don’t appear in a set pattern. The variety of hares and their attack styles keeps the player on their toes.

Run Sheldon keeps you on your toes as you don’t know what is going to happen next. Are you going to encounter a Ninja hare or Lettuce parachute hare? Which level will have the most coins? How are you going to avoid the star hares? I found myself constantly thinking how I was going to get the most coins and avoid dying so I could save my coins. The more I played, the more addicted I found myself. I just wanted to finish that level.

So climb out from under that shell and jump into “Run Sheldon”; you won’t be sorry. It’s a hare raising adventure for the whole family. Even the most “shell”tered member of the family will be jumping for their turn.
