Self-publishing developer Larian Studios announced today that with 11 days to go their KickStarter campaign to enhance Divinity: Original Sin reached its first stretch goal at $500k.
This first stretch goal means a new area called “The Shelter Plane at The End Of Time” will be included with the game. The shelter plane will act as a homestead where players can store items and leave party members behind.
To celebrate the successful funding of the first stretch goal, Larian Studios today released a new update video, showing off how Divinity: Original Sin rewards exploration.
Divinity: Original Sin is an open-world traditional RPG featuring turn-based combat and single-player and cooperative gameplay in which the actions and choices of players have true significance and consequences. It will ship with the editor that was used by the developers to make the game, making it the first game in a long time to sport a RPG editor that supports multiplayer.
The developer further announced that for every extra 1000 backers, they will extend an area called The Phantom Forest which houses a creature so cruel the world knows not its like.
They also announced a live piano recital by Kirill Pokrovsky via Twitch TV this Thursday, April 18th at 19:00 GMT+1, which can be seen via the game’s official website.
With the funds raised through Kickstarter, Larian Studios wants to expand its team and add more depth and diversity to Divinity: Original Sin. This includes more areas to explore, more character interactions, more quests with consequences, and increased options for character-building.
