In 2018s Game Awards ceremony, NetherRealm made a surprising announcement revealing that the studio is working on the new entry in the Mortal Kombat series. Last week the developer organized a special community event revealing Mortal Kombat 11 gameplay and some of the game’s character fatalities.
As previously expected, Mortal Kombat 11 takes a page from its predecessor Injustice 2 and introduces custom variations to games characters, allowing players to customize the looks and play style of their favorite Mortal Kombat 11 fighters. Additionally, Nether Realm also shared a short video laying the foundation for the new story chapter in the Mortal Kombat universe.
While no one expected, Nether Realm also revealed Mortal Kombat 11 launch date which is set for April 23rd. One month prior the release, the developer will also host an online beta test, to give fans of the series a chance to try out the new mechanics. The game should be available across all platforms including PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
Following this news, fighting game genre fans felt a need to replay the old games in the series. According to Eneba games store, Mortal Kombat XL was the most popular title in their store last week.
