Square Enix, the publisher of Square Enix interactive entertainment products in the Americas, today announced that Final Fantasy III is available now on the new OUYA games console.
The OUYA release of Final Fantasy III features several updates specifically developed for the console including improved visuals and optimized control systems. A free-to-try demo version of the game will also be available at launch.
First released in 1990, Final Fantasy III was the first title in the Final Fantasy series to become a one million-seller, establishing once and for all that Square Enix’s classic RPG saga was here to stay. Final Fantasy III was a hallmark of innovation for the entire series, from the job system that lets characters change classes at any time, to the ability to summon powerful creatures such as Shiva and Bahamut.
OUYA is now shipping to early backers as part of a preview program. Starting in June, OUYA will be available for purchase in the United States and Canada through retailers Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, and the store on OUYA.tv for $99.99.
Extra controllers will retail for $49.99. Consumers can pre-order OUYA today at any of these retailers.
