GOG.com begins its new summer promo Battle of the Games and gives away Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire and Ultima: Worlds of Adventure 2: Martian Dreams.
GOG.com, the fastest growing digital distributor of DRM-free games, is extremely happy to start the summer holiday season with a promo you’ve never seen before and two games available forever for everyone for free.
Battle of the Games is the first promo in GOG.com’s long and prosperous history that allows gamers to decide which game will be discounted.
For each day between June 19 and July 5, two games will battle one on one and GOG.com gamers who vote on the Battle of the Games page will decide which title wins. Each Round of the Battle begins at 1 PM GMT (9 AM EST) and ends after 24 hours. After each round, the winner of the popular vote will be discounted 60% and the runner-up will be discounted 40%, both for the following 24 hours.
The first round of #BOTG draws the two best-selling PC adventure games in history: Myst: Masterpiece Edition and The 7th Guest. Myst and The 7th Guest made a couple of million people buy a CD-ROM drive. How? Because those two games were, and still are, amazing. The epic adventure in the lost empire of the D’ni and the spine-chilling escape from the mansion of horrific riddles both took the hearts of gamers by story.
Even though the final line-up remains a mystery and new pair of games will be revealed every day, GOG.com users can expect dozens of highest quality DRM-free titles, including Psychonauts, The Witcher, and Broken Sword: Director’s Cut, duelling for fame and discounts until the early days of July.
Not only does GOG.com allows its users to decide their summer sale, but, in cooperation with EA, is also offering Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire and Ultima: Worlds of Adventure 2: Martian Dreams free to all users.
Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire is Ultima meets The Lost World with simplified RPG elements. Players can Explore jungles and wastelands, cross lava flows, encounter stone-age tribes, and battle the mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex for the unbeatable price of nothing.
Ultima: Worlds of Adventure 2: Martian Dreams takes the Avatar and his friend Dr Spector to the year 1893 to witness a launch of a space cannon aimed at Mars. Players will interact with many historical figures as Marie Curie, Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, Theodore Roosvelt, H.G Wells, and dozens more.
