Hudson Entertainment, holders of the classic gaming candle, have just released Military Madness: Nectaris for WiiWare gamers to enjoy (don’t worry, it is available on PSN and Xbox Live too). If you are not familiar with the MM series, it is a strategy series that started on the Turbo Grafx-16 system (a console from the late 80’s that was hogtied from day one, man, if given a chance, it would have rocked).
Updates of the classic game include 3D graphics (check out the shots) customizable Commander unit, leaderboards and a armada of other enhancements.
Gameplay is quite easy to grasp, but tough to master, using a hex grid with two opposing forces starting on opposite sides of the map. Conditions of winning include the normal “destroy all enemy units” and “capture the enemy headquarters”, venerable and dependable objectives (the hard part is accomplishing either).
The original Military Madness received awards such as “Best Military Strategy Game” and “Best War Game” within the first year of it’s release (not many strategy titles can claim that type of pedigree).
Military Madness: Nectaris is rated E10+ by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB).
