Konami has just released Puzzle Chronicles for the Nintendo DS and Playstation Portable systems (other systems available soon). PC is unique in that it was developed by Infinite Interactive (creators of Puzzle Quest) but is a slight departure in gameplay, if not settings (at least for PQ1, Galactrix was in space), though all of them are a great mix of RPG and puzzle elements.
Much like a full on RPG, players are thrust into a world, here it is the savage lands of the Ashurin Empire, to return peace to the land. Combat is where things go different since you play a puzzle game to be able to perform moves on your enemy (this brings new meaning to Active Time Battle-one of Square Enix’s additions to RPG’s). Enemies include warlords, demons, sorceresses and many more creatures looking to rain on your parade.
Quick Battle mode offers a chance to fight menacing overlords, dastardly wizards and even huge monsters to help level up your character (handy for people that get bored with all of that walking around). Multiplayer is available with local wifi on both the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP systems, so get out there and challenge some friends.
