Fishdom Harvest Splash by Playrix (PC Review)

Addicted to puzzle games?  Fishdom Harvest Splash by Playrix ($19.95) is a game that puzzle fanatics will love!  It has a fall harvest theme complete with a harvest fish that resembles a turkey!  Lots of other fish are available including seahorses, parrotfish, and clown fish.   Earn money to complete your fish tank and buy more tanks.  As you complete the levels, you earn more money as well as facing more complex playing boards.  Add your own fish, decorations, and comfort items to completely fill up the meters in each area.  Make sure you watch the fish in your tank; they will tell you what they want.  Once you fill all the meters to 100% you earn a cup.  First bronze, then silver, then gold.  The more cups you earn the more expensive the items become.

The shapes of the pieces come in various shapes including turtles, sting rays, jellyfish and more.  When you click on each shape, it moves in its box.  The playing board itself changes shape as you move through the different levels.  When you connect 5 or more pieces you get “bombs” that will allow you to blow up multiple pieces at the same time.  When you have 7 of the bombs, you will get a “lightening ball” that will blow up all of the same type of piece when switched with it.

Some of the boards feature chained boxes that you must break the chains before you can clear them, and boxes that you can not switch pieces with that must be blown up to clear them.  If you fail to complete a level, you can repeat it with no penalty. You can also use your fish tank as a relaxing screen saver.  Imagine sitting in front of your computer relaxing watching a fish tank that you made (and without the maintenance of a real tank).  Another bonus, if you forget to feed the fish, no floaters!

Overall, Fishdom is an excellent puzzle game that is well worth getting.  I found myself wanting to play it non-stop.  I said that I was going to play just one more level, of course that was 10 levels ago.  I sat down and played for 5 hours straight.  Looking for a gift for someone who loves puzzles?  I highly recommend Fishdom Harvest Splash for anyone.  Harvest Splash is only one of the versions of Fishdom available.  Others include Spooky Splash and web-based Fishdom.
