iParenting Media Awards, an online site for parents and parents to be and also a part of the Disney Online network of sites, has just bestowed upon Playrix the honor of Fishdom being deemed the best Video Game of 2009. What makes this such a big announcement is that iParenting Media Awards is the ONLY certified product review and awards program in the industry (this isn’t some award handed out by just anyone, folks).
Fishdom first came out in 2008 and has had versions released including H2O: Hidden Odyssey™ and this year 3 Holiday themed versions were released, Harvest Splash (which we rated a 9 out of 10 here), Fishdom: Spooky Splash™ and Fishdom: Frosty Splash™.
Other notable Fishdom series include being one of the greatest games released in 2008 from Casual Games Association, and was recognized as one of the final nominees for the 2009 Great Game Awards (RealNetworks®, Inc). Not too shabby.
“We are very excited to have Fishdom recognized as a great video game by the highly-respected iParenting Media Awards reviewers, and it’s a wonderful compliment to the whole Playrix team,” said Igor Bukhman, President, Products, Playrix. “Fishdom proved to be very popular with consumers and we feel that it’s a franchise that has a further potential for extension.”
For those that don’t know, Fishdom is a match 3 puzzle game that has an underwater theme. As stated by our very own Dani P. here at PPG “The shapes of the pieces come in various shapes including turtles, sting rays, jellyfish and more. When you click on each shape, it moves in its box. The playing board itself changes shape as you move through the different levels. When you connect 5 or more pieces you get “bombs” that will allow you to blow up multiple pieces at the same time. When you have 7 of the bombs, you will get a “lightening ball” that will blow up all of the same type of piece when switched with it.”
