Review Score:

Fernbus Coach Simulator for PC has finally arrived, and it combines the best features of both Bus Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator by developer SCS Software. Unlike most bus simulators where you play on a linear map – Fernbus’s open world allows you to set destinations on the fly and travel in any direction you desire. You can even make your trips as long or as short as you like.

The world map unlocks as you progress through the game. You need to explore the game world to unlock all the cities and roads. You start out with a few towns to travel through. As you travel to each city, neighboring towns and their surrounding locations unlock.

Aside from driving to a destination to pick up your passengers and shuttling them around, you will also have to worry about checking their boarding passes, storing their luggage, and making sure you do not accidentally board the wrong passengers. But if a selected passenger is headed in the same direction, the game will allow you to discover that location simply by taking the passenger to their destination.

You can check passengers in by scanning them with your cell phone app.  Later on, you will have the ability to scan coupons and even give customers a discount. Not every customer will have a digital boarding pass, though. Some customers also have physical boarding passes. The cool part about Fernbus Simulator is that you do not have to worry about dealing with money and making change. Everything is done digitally and everyone pays with a credit card via your cell phone app, so getting on the road is quick, easy and a lot of fun. So there’s no need to hold up the bus line by counting loose change before the journey begins.

Fernbus Coach Simulator has the best dynamic weather system of any simulation. A joyride in the country can turn into a nasty downpour within minutes. Aside from brutal rainstorms and bright sunny days, you will also encounter snow storms and icy road conditions as well.

Just like other simulations, you’re expected to deal with rowdy passengers; complaints about the temperature of the bus;  and even how badly you’re driving. You earn more points and a better overall score if you arrive on time with no accidents. The AI does not make it easy when traversing the roads; you have to watch out for hazards and bad drivers.

What makes Fernbus a great simulation is the freedom to take any bus route you want. It’s possible to make one long push from the bottom of the country to the top, or have a bus route with 30 stops for one epic bus route. You can make Fernbus as easy or as hard as you like. If you’re looking for more of a challenge, you can try traveling in bad weather conditions.

Everything seen from behind the wheel in the bus cockpit is 100% authentic. This is where an extensive amount of learning comes into play. The player must learn how to operate all the advanced features of the bus, such as tilting the bus so the passengers have an easier time boarding. Fernbus’ realism is the equivalent of OMSI Bus Simulator in terms of controls and operating the bus itself.

Ferbus’ graphics are absolutely gorgeous. The rain effects alone, at first glance, will simply blow your mind. Watching the water bead and pool on the windshield while you’re cruising at 80mph on the Autobahn is simply mesmerizing. Another wonderful feature that sets Fernbus apart from other bus simulations is the constant updating, patching and new content being added on a continuous basis.

Fernbus delivers a brilliant simulation with great controls that work perfectly with either a joypad, mouse and/or keyboard combination.  The game also supports steering wheel configurations. Fernbus is a simulator that will not disappoint; it offers all the amenities of Euro Truck Simulator, but in a bus-style simulation. It also has a huge online mod community that offers all sorts of customization that is not included in the vanilla version. Fernbus has a lot of miles left on it as far as simulations are concerned, and it’s worth every penny.
