After several months being voted, A Rite from the Stars has been selected by Valve to be distributed worldwide via Steam since its release day. As Risin’ Goat promised during its Kickstarter campaign, every backer who bought the game will receive a Steam CD-Key in addition to its DRM-free copy of the game. A Rite from the Stars will be released for PC, Mac and Linux and also for Ouya and Wii U.
The Risin’ Goat team stated that this new success will let them ‘work harder on the production of the game’. They have completed nearly the 50% of the game and aim to release it in the first half of 2015.
A Rite from the Stars is the story of Kirm, a mute boy from the Makoa Tribe, who has to leave his childhood behind by undergoing a rite of passage on the Mystical Island of Kaikala.
Inspired by classics like Broken Sword and Day of the Tentacle as well as genre contemporaries such as Machinarium and The Cave, the game features three different paths to complete with unique mechanics, performance based achievements, and multiple endings. A Rite From The Stars doesn’t feature point ‘n click clichés like pixel hunts, pointless walks or boring inventory management (also known as “using the stick in everything until it works).
