Big Kahuna Party by Reflexive Entertainment (Wiiware Review)

Love puzzle games?  Getting lost in your game?  Try Big Kahuna Party by Reflexive Entertainment for Wii on Wiiware (700 points), rated E for everyone.  This game is highly addicting, you will find yourself trying to beat just one more level before you stop (you said that 10 levels ago).

With simple controls of flipping two items side by side or up and down you match three or more sea themed items using the wiimote and nunchuck or just the wiimote.  If you match five items you will be rewarded with “bombs” that when you swap them with another item will blow up multiple pieces.  When you make enough matches, you will receive a “net” that you can use to delete one item.  As the levels progress, it gets harder with having to remove layers to get to the proper color background.  In higher levels, you will encounter objects that when matched undo the cleared background as well as items that are locked in place that you must unlock.

There are different ways to play, timed or relaxed as well as single or co-operative mode.  In the timed mode you receive a set amount of time in which to complete clearing the board.  If you run low on time, you receive three options: 1. Risk it and continue on 2. Use 1 life and get an additional 4 minutes 3. Use 1 life and skip the level.  When you use up all your lives, you start with the option of multiple levels from the last 5 levels.  In the relaxed mode, there is no time limit.  You can take as long as you want.  The faster you clear the level, the more bonus points you will get.  In both timed and relaxed, as you progress through the levels you receive fish that you can use to populate your background reef.  You can also change the reef background.
