  • Yakuza 4 (Review) Playstation 3

Posted by on April 30, 2011 under PS3, Reviews
Sega loves us. Yakuza 4 includes the missing content that was omitted from the non-Japanese release of Yakuza 3. The hostess clubs, the dating, and all the hotspots that make the seedy nightlife of Kamurocho exciting are present and accounted for. The biggest change to the series is the inclusion of 4 playable characters with stories that eventually intersect. Unlike Yakuza 3 where Kazuma was t... more.
  • Minotron (Review) iPhone/iPod/iPad

Posted by on April 29, 2011 under Portables, Reviews
Hard to say if Jeff Minter actually likes his latest release, which returns to his long-ago success with mutant llamas. But I'm having a hell of time with it. Minotron: 2112 is Minter's iPhone remake of the 1991 Atari ST game Llamatron: 2112, which is a remake of Robotron: 2084, which is merely the greatest arcade game of all time. Many home versions of Robotron tried and failed to capture the ... more.
  • Word News (Review) iPhone/iPod/iPad

Posted by on April 25, 2011 under Portables, Reviews
If an award for the best iPhone game of the past year were being awarded purely on my personal tastes, Word News would be it. It probably won't be received anywhere near as enthusiastically by the general gaming population, so an even-handed critique is as exercise in self-restraint as much as anything. It's edutainment, for goodness' sake. It focuses on the news, as the name suggests, which is... more.

Gamers instantly fell in love with the game's protagonist, Prince Duncan, and his goofy antics inside the Dark Castle. Return to Dark Castle by Super Happy Fun Fun is a remake of the original classic game. After Prince Duncan's disappearance, a new hero... more.

Ar Ciel was once a planet that was lush with many different inhabitants. The humans of this planet created a new species, Reyvateils, with the power to convert songs into energies. The survivors sought refuge in three... more.

The movie-to-game adaption, Battle: Los Angeles, finally arrives on the Playstation Network. Battle: LA is a sci-fi FPS that has you defending the city of LA against an alien invasion. Developed by !Fidea Factory, Jikandia is a unique RPG experience that blends 2D side-scrolling action and timer-based mechanics into one cohesive package.
