Riot – Meet The Creator “Leonard Menchiari” at GDC

Merge Games, a privately owned video game publisher and distributor, is proud to announce that the creator of it’s forthcoming Riot simulator will be at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco to discuss his controversial project.

Developed by Leonard Menchiari and IV Productions, Riot is a real-time strategy / simulator game based on real-world riots. Leonard lived and worked in Hollywood where he was hired to work on a Valve financed project. On returning to Italy Leonard made contact with the NoTAV underground movement. Through his contact with the NoTAV protesters Leonard discovered how many people are truly putting their lives on the line to fight against political crime and corruption and just how little of all this was being told in the national Italian media.

In order to inform people of what was really happening, Leonard decided to aim for a different kind of media, hoping to share his experiences and other people’s ideals through what he considers to be one of the most powerful forms of communication out there today, video games. During the fall of 2012 Leonard started to develop Riot. He learned how to program from scratch, animate, and draw in pixel art while trying to survive with no housing and very little money. After almost two years Leonard teamed up with IV Productions and is expecting to complete RIOT in the summer of 2015.

Leonard Menchiari is taking time out of his busy schedule to meet press at GDC. Visitors to the event wishing to meet Leonard, get hands on with Riot and discuss his values should make appointments through Nick Clarkson at Merge Games. Riot, will be on Italian Trade Commission’s Booth #702 in the South Hall.
