Chris Brookmyre at Game Connection Europe

RedBedlam has the pleasure to announce today the presence of Christopher Brookmyre, acclaimed author and writer of the upcoming videogame/novel tie-in Bedlam, at Game Connection Europe 2014.

On Wednesday 29th October at 15.30, Brookmyre will deliver a lecture entitled “From Novel to Game and Back Again”, in which he will talk Game Connection attendees through this unique collaborative process between a writer who is a big fan of videogames and videogame developers who are big fans of his writing. Not merely a book based on a video game or a video game based on a book, the project represents a world first in that both game and novel were conceived and developed entirely in symbiosis.

Following the presentation Brookmyre will be joined on stage by RedBedlam’s Marketing Director, Nick Witcher for a 20 minute Q&A session with the audience.

Just updated with brand new content, including a suitably terrifying first-person perspective of Pacman, Bedlam is available now on Steam early access and offers an innovative, genre-hopping experience. The game mirrors events from the book, which is available now in paperback and was written as part of the ambitious collaboration with Brighton-based developer RedBedlam and in association with Standfast Interactive.

“I’m really excited to be letting listeners in on the story of such an unusual creative project,” says Brookmyre. “Literature and videogames ought to complement each other, and it is surprising that this kind of collaboration is not more commonplace, so I look forward to discussing this with other distinguished professionals at Game Connection Europe.”

Christopher Brookmyre has written seventeen critically acclaimed novels and won numerous awards for his works, also appearing regularly on primetime radio and TV. His love of videogames has manifested in countless references and now, for the first time, in a fully-formed first person shooter that itself pays tribute to a wealth of iconic titles.
