Big Sound for a Small Price – GX Gaming’s Zabius M Mobile Headset (Review)
Review Score:

Gamers don’t usually think ‘earbuds’ when shopping for a pair of headsets, especially when they want the best quality for their money, many see the pewdiepie headset and want that for themselves. TurtleBeach and their competitors sell a wide range of high quality headsets that can easily set you back $100+, but the quality you receive usually justifies the investment. GX Gaming’s Zabius M Mobile gaming headset, on the other hand, takes the preconceived notion that earbuds are low-grade alternatives incapable of producing high fidelity sound, and throws it out the window.

The Zabius M Mobile headset comes packaged in a sexy, jet-black box with a high-gloss image of the product shown prominently on front. When inspecting the inside contents, you find all sorts of goodies for your money – The Zabius M Mobile headset (obviously); a circular carrying case made of decent material and a belt clip; three sets of ear tips (small, medium and large); and a 4-pin gold-plated plug to ensure the best audio quality possible from the device being used.

Zabius’ headset looks sleek with its black and red color design, and the provided ear tips are made of a soft rubber that provide comfort for the user’s ears (which is a common problem for most earbud headsets). During this review, more than 40+ hours were spent using the M Mobile headset on various devices – from portable gaming conoles (i.e. Nintendo 3DS, Android Tablets, PC , etc.) to listening to a wide range of music (i.e. Rock, Hip Hop, etc.) and the result was startling to say the very least.

For starters, the sound that transmits through the earbuds can easily compete with any of Turtlebeach’s headsets in the $100+ range. For example – while play testing PayDay 2 for PC, the techno soundtrack came through with bass-pounding clarity, as every drum, snare and guitar riff stood out as its own separate instrument. Since Payday 2’s sound track contains a lot of heavy bass, it was a good way to see how the headsets would stack up.

Instead of producing static from the tremendously intense bass, the result was a rich, full-bodied experience, as the heavy beats overwhelmed your senses. This is due in part to the Zabius M’s powerful 13mm neodymium magnets, which are designed to produce premium sound through tiny speakers. Even though the packaging doesn’t mention it, the Zabius M Mobile headset does provide noise reduction from outside environmental disturbances. In fact, it’s near impossible to hear someone talking right next to you, even if the volume is turned down.

The good news is that Gaming GX’s headset can be used with a multitude of devices. Thanks to its in-line microphone, the Zabius can be used for online PC/Mac gaming and also double as a hands-free, cellphone chat device. Even during those tests, the audio quality was just as impressive.

For the money, GX Gaming’s Zabius M Mobile headset is a clear winner in the high fidelity ‘earbud’ category. You can’t normally touch this kind of quality for less than $100 with most other headsets, and GX Gaming is offering their Zabius M for only $49.99 (US) and $59.99 (Canada) on Amazon. If you’re looking for big sound without the price tag, then your headsets have finally arrived.
