Review Score:

Looking for a great game to jump into? Superfrog HD ($9.99) by Team 17 is just a leap away in the Steam store. You and your Princess are on your way happily ever after when your Princess is taken by an evil witch and turns you into a frog. You must leap and dodge your way through 6 worlds with 4 levels to save her.

The levels start easy and increase in difficulty the higher you go. You start out with simple levels that have you seeking out ways to get to your next destination by hopping up tree branches and jumping up tunnels. Each level has its own obstacles and enemies. These include snails and bees among others. To destroy these, you must jump on them. You can control your frog by using the arrow keys and the space bar.

You can slow your frog when he falls by holding the space bar. You can also direct where your frog goes when he is floating by pressing the arrow keys. In each level, there are hidden areas. The more areas you uncover, the higher your score. You have 10 minutes to complete each level. If you fail to complete the level you will have to start over. When you finish the level you will see your score, time bonus, lives bonus, coins, secret area, final score and a star rating.

In between each level, you will get a fruit machine to spin like a slot machine. If you match 3 fruit, you will get a prize. The prize depends on what you spin. There are 12 locked achievements. These include: Squisher -Kill 10 enemies, Super Squisher -Kill 101 enemies, No Croaks -Complete a level without dieing, Aureus Lilium -Collect a golden lily pad, and Superfrog! -Complete all new levels, among others.

When playing Superfrog HD, I found some of the hardest things were trying to accurately jump between platforms and over obstacles. I found the controls were very sensitive, almost too sensitive. The variety of challenges that each level has prevents the game from feeling repetitive. You can go back and replay the levels to improve your scores and to find more hidden areas.

Before you advance to the next level, you must complete the prior level. Once you have completed all the levels of the world, you can move onto the the next world. I tried the Frog Trials first to use them as practice before I played through the levels. Frog Trials is a survival mode that allows you to add time by picking up time add-ons. You can find items that will aid you when you play. These include Extra life, Speed up, Slow down, among others.

Superfrog HD is a fun and challenging game for gamers of all ages. So take a leap and try Superfrog HD; you won’t be disappointed.
