Nintendo to Release 2DS Handheld and Cheaper Wii U This Holiday Season

Nintendo is about to make waves this Holiday season. According to Nintendo of America’s president and COO, “Today we’re making those unique Nintendo experiences more accessible and affordable.  However you play and whatever you play, Nintendo has you covered.”

This comes after news of Nintendo announcing the 2DS handled – a system that is compatible with 3DS and DS games, but without the 3D screen. The system will retail at $129.99US. The system will be an entry level 3DS that launches October 12th, 2013. The system will first be available in Red and Blue at launch, but additional colors may be released later.

Gamers can test the system at the beginning of October when Nintendo joins the sampling tour in conjunction with Simons Mall that visits several markets before it ends in November 3.

Beginning September 20th, the Deluxe Nintendo Wii U will be reduced by a hefty $50.00 to a poultry retail price of $299.99. This move comes at a good time with PS4 and Xbox One looming on the horizon.

Additional, a new Wind Waker HD Wii U Bundle is planned to launch on September 20th, 2013 for $299.99. The bundle will include a black Deluxe Wii U, a gold GamePad with gold lettering, a gold Hyrule crest and even gold symbols from the game. A download code for Hyrule Histora and a book containing artwork and history of The Legend of Zelda will also be included.
