My Aquarium (Review) Playstation 3

My Aquarium (Review) Playstation 3

Wish you could have an aquarium without all the maintenance?  Hudson Entertainment/Hudson Soft has the answer for you:  My Aquarium for PS3.  You start out with a blank aquarium that you customize with your choice of floor, decorations, lighting options, glass etching, music and fish.

The flooring consists of sand, rocks, and other sub straights. decorations include shells of various sizes, shapes, and colors, a variety of corals, driftwood, water plants, sea anemones, and other objects.  The lighting includes daylight at different depths, black light, fish themed lighting, customized, among others.

The custom lighting option allows you to adjust the different wavelengths.  The soundtrack is varied to fit any theme or mood.  The music includes Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Mozart and many others.  You can even add your own music that is stored on your PS3 hard drive.

The options for populating your tank are many.  You will start out with a good selection of fish.  There are places left for you to aquire new fish by either buying them from the PS Network or unlocking them.  As you place your fish in your aquarium, keep an eye on the meter in the upper left hand corner.  It will tell you how full your aquarium is.  You can add or subtract fish at will.  As with all aquariums, you will need to make sure all your fish are compatible.

There are unlockable fish as well as fish that you can buy for $0.99.  There are three groups with 3 fish in each one.  These are the Jellyfish Set, Glamor Set, and Big Fish Set.  The Big Fish Set includes the Japanese Bullhead Shark.

Once you have placed your fish, don’t forget to feed them (or some may become dinner).  You can feed your fish either animal or plant food as well as earthworms  You control the amount of food by how many shakes you give the food container.

You can take pictures and videos of your aquarium.  My Aquarium has the ability to upload your videos directly to Youtube so you can share your aquarium with everyone.  There are 11 trophies that you can earn.  These include feeding fish to other fish, successfully breeding fish, completing all the tanks in My Aquarium, and others.

I found My Aquarium to be very relaxing and fun to play.  The many options make the combinations of  aquariums seem endless.  The ability to upload directly to Youtube is something not seen in many games and allows you to share your aquarium with other people.

After having had an aquarium for many years, playing My Aquarium allowed me to find the same relaxation with nowhere near the amount of work required for a real aquarium.  Hudson Entertainment/Hudson Soft’s My Aquarium is a catch worth keeping.
