Love playing Monopoly, but don’t have the time to play the actual board game? Monopoly by Ubisoft for Nintendo’s Switch is the answer. It allows for traditional or customized play. These include items such as money for landing on free parking, auctioning off property if the person landing on it doesn’t want it, and many more options.

You can unlock more tokens to play and win awards the more you play. You win these by playing the 3 different theme boards, completing for the different colored sections, putting houses/hotels on the properties, etc.. There are three, 3D “living” boards, each with its own theme; City, Amusement Park, and Haunted Board, each with their own respective named properties. You start with the traditional tokens, but unlock more tokens the more you play.

These include the turtle, plane, motorcycle, pumpkin, motorcycle, ghost, camera, and more. These are unlocked by completing each of the themed boards, completing one side of the board, collecting so many “complete color” sets, etc. You can also choose the traditional board.

You can win the game several different ways: the traditional way or by choosing a “Goal” to complete. Some of these include building a hotel on any property, first player to get a certain amount of cash, first player to own a certain number of properties or other ways. You also can choose what rules to follow when following house rules. There are 3 spots to save your game. The more players you have, the more competitive it is. You can offer trades, which the other players can accept or reject. The tolls are autocratically deducted, unless the property is mortgaged. The ability to build, mortgage, or trade your property is allowed during your turn.

You can play against people you know or set up a game online. I tried this and found it easier to find a player with the traditional rules. I had one game with someone that continued on for two weeks. The ability to continue playing without having to keep a board set up or to remember who had what and where is great.

Ubisoft’s Monopoly allows for multiple variations so you will never get board; it’s always a new game. You can have up to 6 players. The more players, the more competitive it is. Whether you are looking for a quick game of Monopoly or a “traditional” long game of Monopoly, Ubisoft has definitely delivered on a fun, traditional board game experience.

The graphics captures the look and feel of the classic board game... and then some. The only change I would make, would be to have the tokens animate.
The sound embodies the excitement you feel when you play the classic board game.www.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.comwww.dyerware.com
