Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord – “Weapon Physics” Revealed

Good day, warriors! As you may remember, TaleWorlds publish a dev blog every Thursday where we discuss different topics related to Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord development process. This week, we published a new post that explains the weapon physics system and how it affects combat and crafting. Mount & Blade’s deep and intuitive combat system is one of the core features of our games. Our directional attacking and blocking mechanic is intuitive in the sense that it is easy to pick-up, and deep in that it allows players to continuously develop and adapt their own fighting style through the use of feinting, chambering and good footwork (including a well-timed kick!).

How does the game take weight into account? How many factors affect how your weapon works in battle? How can you create a faster ax or a piercing sword? Check out this week’s dev blog to find out! And if you want to learn more about the setting of the game, don’t miss the blog we posted two weeks ago where we introduced one of the factions you can find in Bannerlord. Enjoy the read!

When the world falls into chaos, anyone can rise to glory if they are brave and skilled enough. You can be a fierce mercenary, selling your sword to anyone with gold in his purse. You can command your own army and drive them to the final victory. You can even rise to become a liege lord, sworn to protect your subjects and lands. Your destiny awaits, and you are free to choose it with your blade! Mount & Blade combines the genres of Strategy and Action RPG. Set in the fictional continent of Calradia, the games feature a rich and detailed singleplayer experience which allows players to develop their own character and story in a sandbox campaign.

There is also a multiplayer element which lets players test their combat skills and tactical abilities against opponents from all around the world in massive, epic battles. The gameplay focuses on different aspects of medieval combat and warfare, and features a deep and intuitive directional combat system which is easy to learn, but difficult to master.
