Hitman HD Trilogy (Review) Playstation 3

Hitman HD Trilogy (Review) Playstation 3
Review Score:

Step into the shoes of the most dangerous and highly skilled assassins in gaming history. This trilogy contains Contracts, Silent Assassin and Blood Money, but it doesn’t contain the original game, Hitman: Codename 47. The games provided in this trilogy have remained unaltered.

Fans will definitely appreciate the enhanced HD graphics, while newcomers will enjoy the raw, unfiltered lifestyle of Agent 47. While the games in this collection have remained virtually the same, there is one feature that adds to the replay value  — trophies/achievements for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 gamers.

What has always made the Hitman series special is its unique blend of action and stealth. The gameplay keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time you play. The third person action is phenomenal; it gives you the option to eliminate your target anyway you want.

Even though stealth is your best option and hiding in the shadows is what Agent 47 does best, it’s up to the player to use this approach. You can replay the same mission(s) multiple times and never have the same outcome. There are a handful of missions that require complete stealth, but you can do whatever you want for the majority of the missions. But half the fun is calculating your approach. You can choose to lurk in the shadows, murder people for their identities, or go balls to the wall in an all-out bloodbath.

And don’t let the A.I. fool you; it’s not as dumb as it tries to let on. After repeating a mission more than once, it starts to catch on and learn your tactics. Repeating the same tactics will result in failure, so switching things up is important.

With a large selection of handguns, assault rifles, melee weapons, and a plethora of other objects at your disposal,  you shouldn’t have a problem eliminating your target. Aside from using weapons, you can also use the environment to your advantage. There are plenty of hazards and pitfalls that you can lure your target into.

Leaving witnesses can cause your mission to fail, especially if they alert your target of your presence. Disposing of witnesses and blending in with your surroundings is key to survival. No one ever said that being a professional killer would be easy.

The Hitman series has aged well over the years. The remastered HD graphics give the series a modern polish, but it ‘s not the graphics that make this trilogy a timeless classic – it’s the gameplay. While the original game from the series, Codename 47, was not included, it was a pleasure reliving the series again on a modern console system.

The Hitman HD Trilogy is a great way for gamers to experience the origins of Agent 47. And if you’ve never had the pleasure of playing any of the previous Hitman games, now is your chance to get three of the best in the series in one collection.

The remastered graphics look gorgeous in HD.
Just as I remember them; gritty, raw and simply magnificent.
The right mix of action and stealth make Hitman the best in its genre.
Professional killing at its best; you'll need more than your wits to make it out alive. Definitely a must-have if you are a fan of the series.
