Dungeonland: Developer Diary#4 – Customization & Persistence

Paradox Interactive, a publisher of games and operator of fatally dangerous theme parks, today received and published a new video from Critical Studio, the developers of Dungeonland. The video, a new developer diary detailing players’ customization options as they build their team of heroes in an effort to survive Dungeonland, was submitted by the park’s Dungeon Maestro in what appears to have been a misunderstanding.

“Hey, ninnies,” said the Dungeon Maestro in an inter-office memo. “I found my team’s diary while I was looking around for a free copy of Crusader Kings II. I figure it’s all about their secret crushes and how much they love dressing up for tea parties, so I want you to publish it online and make them cry. That’ll teach them a thing or two.” Paradox elected not to correct the Dungeon Maestro and have published the mostly non-embarrassing dev diary.

The new diary offers players a sneak peek at the different choices players can make as they prepare to withstand the deceptively cheerful deathtraps of Dungeonland, from new perks to different weapons and abilities.

In Dungeonland, severing three heads is better than one: teamwork will be the key to survival as players visit an adventurer’s theme park, slaughtering staff and collecting loot. Meanwhile, a fourth player can stand in for the park’s fiendish Dungeon Maestro, adding new tricks and traps to murder his “friends” as they struggle to keep one another alive. Dungeonland is scheduled to release on January 29, 2013 for $9.99.
