Penumbra Soundtrack – Special Edition (Review)

Penumbra Soundtrack – Special Edition (Review)

Frictional Games have created a monster of a game series (I was hearing about Penumbra, even though I didn’t have a computer at the time and this was from non gamers too).  Continuing the tradition of being freaky as can be and scaring people we have Penumbra Soundtrack – Special Edition here.  This being the first game soundtrack I have ever reviewed has given me high hopes for others (with Video Games Live touring these gaming soundtracks will hopefully continue their high level of quality).

What do you get for your money with the Penumbra Soundtrack – Special Edition?  First of all, you get 27 music tracks composed and hand picked for this album by Mikko Tarmia.  The chills you will get from listening to this soundtrack are free.   The pieces are not only moody, beautifully orchestrated there are sound effects like howls and growls and other ambient sounds that will at times make your skin crawl.  Chants and drums that will definitely create varying images in your head (for help, check out the video below) depending on the listener-even the most good hearted amongst us will be thinking twice about that sound they just heard in the other room.

These tracks would be home in any horror movie but they are home in your stereo.  Just try not to jump too much after listening to the full set, people will begin to wonder about you.
